Summer Items That Use Compression Springs

Summer is a fun time to be outside, enjoy the sun, and learn more while being outdoors. You may not realize that springs are everywhere and there are some really cool summer stuff that use springs in some way shape or form. The following items tend to be used during the summer months and interestingly enough have compression springs in them. So we thought it would be fun to share each of them with you and a little more about how the compression springs in them work.

Kids go crazy over these plastic toy guns that blow out bubbles. Why wouldn’t they? There is something quite magical about blowing bubbles. We can all recall being outside watching bubbles float in the sky as we mesmerized over them. Beach umbrella

When you open an umbrella there is a long compression spring on the top handle that helps the mechanism click into place so it can stay open. This compression spring is also the part that assists in its ability to fold back. As you can see in the image it is this similar mechanism that is present in most umbrellas.

Older camera models

 

We know the summer is the perfect time to bring out the cameras and take a ton of fun pictures. Lately we use our smartphones to do so. However, some of us still have older camera models that use compression springs in the click button. As you can see the shape is what makes it look like a compression spring but it does not necessarily have the function of compressing and releasing energy or pressure, rather it is just the shape it has that resembles a compression spring.
